War Preparations

Sally’s blue eyes glanced over a page covered by her own neat handwriting.  The Princess had been certain to keep records of all the other Freedom Fighter Groups or allies they kept in contact with.  She had gone over the entire list, but she was still sure she was missing someone.  “Rotor, do you know of anyone we’re missing?  If all of our allies are not contacted, we will never be able to gather enough strength to win this war!” Sally questioned her fellow freedom fighter.
Rotor was good with machines, and was able to adjust their transmitting system to work with any of the other Freedom Fighters communication devices; as compared to owning many different devices to contact the many different groups.  Rotor had once explained that it worked similarly to a radio.  Each base transmitted their own frequency of wave: a frequency kept secret by them, and their most trusted allies.  Then, once Rotor’s machine was in tune with that frequency, he sent his own transmission along those waves.  Once the transmission was received, Rotor would have to type in a series of codes to ensure that he was, in fact, an ally.  You could never be too cautious on Mobius today.
“What about Amy’s cousin?” Rotor thought aloud, remembering the pink hedgehog at the meeting the previous day.
“You mean Rob O the Hedge?”  Sally asked.
“Yes.  I don’t think we’ve talked to him yet.”
Sally smiled, “What would I do without you Rotor?”
Rotor scratched the back of his head, embarrassed.  “You do have their frequency, right?”
Sally ran over her notes again. There, on the very bottom of the second sheet, was scribbled: “Rob O the Hedge, Mercia” as well as a simple code and frequency number.  Sally realized she had missed this due to the few numbers that made up the code.  Since Mercia lacked the sophisticated technology that Sally and the Freedom Fighters had stolen from Robotnik, Sally must have mistaken the number for a password into one of Robtoniks’ labs.  This is what she got for all the little sleep she had been getting, she couldn’t even read her own notes.
Rotor quickly got to work.  He adjusted knobs, and typed in the codes.  Finally, the screen which had been fuzzy until just a few moments ago, turned black, and then slowly cleared to show the exhausted face of a female echidna.  Her short fur was red, and two short bangs curled loosely around her face.  Her clothing, though torn and dirty, appeared to be of medieval design, and she carried her right arm in a sing. “Your Highness!” she almost squeaked. “What can I do to help you?”
“Please, Mary-An, just call me Sally,” Sally replied, recognizing this echidna to be Rob’s fiancé.  “I have some very important news, but first, how’s Mercia holding up?”
“Not very well, I’m afraid.”  Mary-An looked down at her injured arm.  “Robotniks’s robots are relentless, and the casualties just keep piling up.  We’re running low on supplies, and I don’t think we’ll have enough food to last the winter.”
“I can send over a transport to pick up all the wounded, elderly, and children.  We can also send some supplies.  Not much, because we’re running low as well, but hopefully enough for you to get by.”
“You are a true blessing Princess.  Now, what about that important news you needed to tell me?”

Amy sat quietly in the waiting room of the hospital wing.  Shadow was visiting Rouge.  She had wanted to tag along, but didn’t fell as though she knew Rouge well enough to actually visit her.  It would be too awkward.  Plus Amy still felt as if this was all her fault.  If only she had been able to warn Rouge…
She looked up at the sound of a door opening.  Shadow entered the waiting room.  “How is she?” Amy asked nervously.
“She’s fine,” he said with a smile. “She just needs a few days to rest up, and she’ll be free to leave.”
“That’s good.” Amy responded.  She was glad Rouge was alright. As they left the hospital Amy turned away from Shadow.  “I have some things I need to do.  See you around!” She shouted as she ran off.  Shadow waved to her in response.  Amy needed to find Princess Sally.  She wanted to help fight.  For a long time now, Amy felt as though she was nothing but a nuisance.  She couldn’t help Rouge.  She had put both Shadow and Sonic in danger when they tried to rescue her, and now she was living off the Freedom Fighters.  If she helped fight, she could be useful again.  Amy was tired of feeling helpless.
Woot! I finally finished the sixth chapter of my Amy story.
